Use Surveys to Find Out What Your List Wants

Author: admin Affiliate Marketing, Email Marketing, Facebook Marketing Tips

Do you know what your email list wants? Are you aware of the products they’re interested in, or the bonuses they want to see added to those products? If you’re like most people, the answer is a big NO. You have no idea what your list wants, so your offers are hit and miss. Sometimes, people jump on the offers, and other times, they don’t even open the email. Fortunately, it doesn’t have to be this way. I’m going to show you how you can use surveys to find out what your list wants. This should help you increase your sales, whether you’re marketing your own products or someone else’s products.

How to Use Surveys

You can send a survey out to your email list asking them what type of product they want. For instance, let’s say you’re in the “learning to play guitar” niche. You can ask people what they want to learn in regards to playing the guitar.

For example, your survey could read:

What most interests you?

  1. Basic guitar chords
  2. Choosing the right guitar
  3. How to play hit songs

Then, you can weed through the answers and use them to either design a product for them, or find an affiliate product that meets their needs.

Options for Surveys

While there are a lot of great survey programs available, Survey Monkey is my favorite. You can sign up for a free plan. The free plan allows users to:

  • Ask up to 10 questions per survey
  • Receive up to 100 responses per survey

If you want to have unlimited questions and answers, you can sign up for a basic plan, which is $17 per month.

Once you sign up for a plan, you’ll need to create and send out your survey.

Sending an Email with the Survey

Along with the survey, you’ll need to send an email out to your list asking them to participate. You can create a standalone email for this, or you can add it to your newsletter or another email you send out on a regular basis. If you add it to a regularly scheduled email, I recommend analyzing your open rates and selecting an email that typically gets a lot of opens. That way, your survey will likely get a lot of responses.

Regardless of if you send a standalone email or add the survey to an existing email, you need to write something like:

I need your help. I want to provide you with the best tools for (insert niche), and in order to do that, I want some feedback. Please take about two minutes of your time and fill out the survey located at http://yoursurvey.com. I’m going to use the results to provide you guys with the best tools available. Thanks!

Once people respond, take some time to analyze the responses. Then, work on your own product, or head over to ClickBank or one of the other affiliate networks. Once there, find a product that meets your list’s needs. Then, email the product out to your list. Since your list just told you they’re interested in the product, there’s a good chance they’ll click on the link and make a purchase.

Let me know what you think about using surveys for your list. Also, leave a comment if you have a survey program that you really like to use.

I realize this is not a get rich deal, but I just want to make a little extra money to supplement my income and allow me to help others that are less fortunate than me. All the help and training that I can get will be greatly appreciated.

    Hello Anthony,

I had know idea that such a website existed. I really like it when you ask me
what are my interests or needs, because I want the two-way communication.
Not opening one of your emails doesn’t tell you what I am thinking. Sometimes I don’t open emails, because I have too many demands on my time. I liked email very much, and I will save it to put it to use soon. Thank you!!!:)

Hi Anthony! Another option for creating surveys would be Google Docs. You can create a ‘form’ with their spreadsheet app and send it out as a text link or as html. It’s free, works like a charm, has no limits that I am aware of, and the data collected is just as useful.

  20. Daniel Brown

It seems like short sharply focused surveys might return the highest participation. In your example, it seems like you would only need to ask one or two additional questions.

I am a new student. I have been to the 3 day seminar and at this time watching Adrians CDs. It is a little overwhelming for me at this time, but I believe that I can make this work. I probably in the future will need a one-on-one with you. The information is helpful. Thank you for sharing your knowledge. Sandy Vandyke

I am on my way to see you at the Portland Red Lion today. I am taking a notebook and pen and will be applying much of what you have to say. I have been following your ads, and videos for awhile now but have not taken any action to make money. Perhaps your seminar and this website will inspire me to generate enough to get out of my complacency. Thank you for your genuine willingness to help those who are less fortunate make their own fortunes.
